Common Headaches

Tension type, migraine, and neck related headaches are most common. Tension feels like a tight band across the head. Migraine can throb on one side with light or sound sensitivity and nausea. Neck related pain starts at the base of the skull and travels toward the eye or temple. Symptoms can be occasional or frequent and affect work, study, sleep.

Common Causes

Headaches are multifactorial. Triggers include stress, long screen time, eye strain, poor sleep, dehydration, missed meals, and caffeine swings. Jaw clenching loads the jaw and upper neck. Stiff upper neck joints and overactive shoulder muscles can refer pain to the head. Hormone changes and sinus irritation increase sensitivity. Seek urgent care for sudden severe headache or new neurological symptoms.
