Ankle Pain
Common Ankle Pain
Ankle pain often shows after a twist in sport, an awkward step, or a long day on your feet. Common patterns include lateral ligament sprain, high ankle sprain, Achilles tendon irritation, peroneal or posterior tibial tendon pain, and joint impingement. Swelling, bruising, a feeling of giving way, reduced push off, and trouble on stairs or uneven ground are frequent signs.
Common Causes
Causes include sudden changes in training load, landing or cutting sports, uneven surfaces, and footwear that does not suit the task. Previous sprain with reduced balance can keep symptoms returning. Limited ankle movement, calf tightness, and reduced hip or foot control may shift load to the joint. If you cannot bear weight comfortably or symptoms worry you, please see your GP.
What to expect with us
Dee begins with a clear assessment of ligaments, tendons, range, balance, and gait to find the drivers of your pain. Care may include swelling management, gentle joint mobilisation, soft tissue therapy, taping or bracing, and a graded loading plan. You receive calf and foot strength work, balance and landing drills, and guidance to return to walking or running. GP input or imaging is arranged when needed.
