Common Neck Pain

Neck pain often shows as a stiff or aching neck, sharp twinges with turning, or pain that travels into the head, shoulder, or upper back. Common patterns include muscular tension, irritated facet joints, wry neck on waking, neck headache, and postural strain after screens. You may notice reduced range, shoulder blade tightness, or pins and needles with certain positions.

Common Causes

Common causes include long sitting, screen time, poor desk setup, stress, sleep position, lifting or gym load changes, driving, and jaw clenching. Weak deep neck flexors, tight chest, limited thoracic mobility, or previous whiplash can keep pain recurring. Red flags include severe trauma, fever, unexplained weight loss, progressive weakness, or numbness in both arms. Seek urgent medical care if these occur.
