Hip Pain
Common Hip Pain
Hip pain often feels like an ache on the outside of the hip, a pinch in the groin, or pain when lying on that side. Typical patterns include gluteal tendon pain, bursitis, hip osteoarthritis, labral irritation, adductor or hip flexor strain, and pain referred from the lower back or pelvis. You may notice stiffness with stairs, sitting, or longer walks.
Common Causes
Causes include changes in training load, running hills, side sleeping on a soft mattress, long sitting or standing, and repeated leaning on one hip. Weak gluteal support, limited hip mobility, and stiff lower back or foot mechanics can add strain. If you cannot comfortably put weight through the leg or symptoms worry you, please see your GP.
What to expect with us
Dee starts with a clear assessment of hip movement, strength, gait, and how your back and pelvis contribute. Care may include joint mobilisation, soft tissue therapy, massage, exercise to strengthen gluteal and deep hip muscles, and load guidance. Acupuncture or dry needling can be used when suitable. You leave with two to four focused exercises and simple walking and sleep tips.
