Knee Pain
Common Knee Pain
Knee pain often shows as an ache around the kneecap, sharp twinges with stairs or squats, or stiffness after sitting. You may notice catching or clicking, swelling after activity, or pain along the inside or outside of the joint. Common patterns include patellofemoral pain, tendon irritation, meniscal strain, and osteoarthritis. Symptoms can be occasional or frequent and may limit walking, training, or work.
Common Causes
Causes include changes in running or gym load, hills or jumping sports, prolonged sitting or kneeling, and long periods of standing. Hip weakness, reduced ankle mobility, and previous injury can shift load to the knee. Footwear and hard surfaces may add strain. If you cannot comfortably take weight, or the knee locks or gives way repeatedly, please see your GP.
